Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy covers www.youngkio.com and the YoungKio Instagram account, both run by YoungKio (“we”, “us”). It explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why, and how you can see it, change it or have it deleted.

We do not sell your personal data. Questions go to contact@youngkio.com. To have your data deleted, see Deleting your data.

Instagram comments and messages

When you comment a beat name on a YoungKio Instagram post or reel, we receive the following through Meta's official Instagram API:

  • your Instagram username
  • your Instagram-scoped ID (a number Instagram assigns to you for our account only)
  • the text of your comment
  • the comment's ID

We use this for one thing only: to send you a single direct message with the link you asked for. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell it.

We keep it for up to 30 days, so we don't send you the same message twice, and then we delete it.

Website analytics

We use an analytics service to understand how people use the site. It runs through our own address on youngkio.com rather than loading from a third-party domain. It records:

  • which pages you view and how far you scroll
  • what you click or tap, including which links you follow off the site
  • your device type, operating system and browser
  • your approximate location (city and country), estimated from your IP address
  • campaign details in the link you arrived from, such as utm_source, and the site that referred you

The analytics service stores a random identifier in a cookie so repeat visits can be recognised. We don't record your screen or keystrokes, and analytics are not used for advertising.

Email signups

If you join our email list, we store your email address, the time you signed up, and which signup form you used. We use it to send you emails about new beats.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing contact@youngkio.com.

Contact form

When you send us a message, we receive your name, email address and message. On the catalog consultation form you can also give a phone number and details about your role and catalog. We use this only to reply to you.

Purchases

Beats are sold through the BeatStars player embedded on this site. Checkout and payment are handled by BeatStars under BeatStars' own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

BeatStars shares your name and email address with us when you buy. We use them to handle your order and to send you emails about new beats, with an unsubscribe link in every email.

Cookies and browser storage

We keep this to a minimum:

  • the analytics cookie described above
  • small values in your browser's local storage that remember whether you closed or completed the email signup, your light or dark theme, and a random identifier used to count link taps

Embedded players, including the BeatStars player, may set their own cookies. Those are controlled by the provider, not by us. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

How long we keep it

  • Instagram comment data: up to 30 days, then deleted
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it
  • Contact messages: as long as we need them to reply and follow up
  • Order details: as long as needed for the order and any legal record-keeping
  • Analytics: only as long as it's useful for understanding how the site is used

Deleting your data

Anyone can ask us to delete the data we hold about them. To do it:

  1. Email contact@youngkio.com with the subject “Data deletion request”.
  2. Include your email address, your Instagram username, or both, so we can find everything linked to you.

We'll delete your data within 30 days and reply to confirm. That covers your Instagram comment data, your email list entry, your contact messages and the order details BeatStars shared with us. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you, for example by replying from the same email address.

If the law requires us to keep a record, such as a purchase record for tax purposes, we'll keep only that and tell you. BeatStars and Instagram hold their own copies of your data. To delete those, contact them directly.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and send you a copy
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete it (see Deleting your data)
  • stop sending you marketing emails, using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us

California residents (CCPA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell or share it for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still ask. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

EU and UK residents (GDPR): you also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your data, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. We rely on your consent for marketing emails; on your request for Instagram replies and contact-form replies; on what's needed to fulfil your order; and on our legitimate interest in understanding and securing the site for analytics. Our service providers are mainly in the United States, so your data may be processed there. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of these rights, email contact@youngkio.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

Children

This site and our Instagram features are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

We protect your data with reasonable technical and organizational measures, and only people who need it to run the site can access it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
